SABC to broadcast live Chiefs vs Al Ahly final
I would like to thank both the SABC and MultiChoice for reaching a solution that will benefit millions of soccer-loving South AfricansThe public broadcaster had initially cried foul, alleging that CAF withheld information on an exclusive deal the continental football governing body signed with pay-TV channel SuperSport which included free-to-air rights.
The SABC maintained that it was denied the opportunity to show the game despite meeting CAF’s asking price. Ndabeni-Abrahams said her department had “engaged with both the SABC and MultiChoice to ensure an amicable resolution on the acquisition of the rights in the interest of the broad African public”.
“I would like to thank both the SABC and MultiChoice for reaching a solution that will benefit millions of soccer-loving South Africans.”
