LIVE | Ramaphosa arrives in St Petersburg for second leg of African peace mission

Putin says he is ready to receive the peace proposals and claims Russia has always been open to talks.Putin says the crisis in the international food market is not because of the situation in Ukraine. He says it is a result of Western countries.

The leaders from Senegal, Egypt, Zambia, Uganda, Congo Republic and the Comoro islands, as well as South Africa, were meeting Putin at the government's 18th-century Konstantinovsky Palace, on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland. The Kremlin has played down the chances of meaningful talks with Kyiv. It says conditions for a peace process are not in place and that any settlement must take account of"new realities", but that it is open to outside initiatives and ready to listen.

In a statement on Saturday, DA leader John Steenhuisen called President Cyril Ramaphosa's diplomatic trip to Poland, Ukraine and Russia a disgrace.
