JOHANNESBURG - The South African Communist Party in Limpopo has added to the growing criticism about the African National Congress ’s decision to form a Government of National Unity with some of its political foes.
Some leaders from the tripartite alliance have locked horns on the matter recently, with the SACP saying the inclusion of the Democratic Alliance and Freedom Front Plus was against the principles of the alliance.Speaking at the memorial of former finance minister, Tito Mboweni, in Limpopo on Thursday night, SACP provincial chairperson Goodman Mitileni used the occasion to take another swipe at the ANC.
"We had many partners to go to bed with and this one represents the direct opposite of the gains of our national democratic revolution." At the same gathering, ANC national executive committee member David Mahlobo defended the party’s decision. "We rose to the occasion. We saved the country from the edge of disorder and chaos. It was a tactical choice we made. The ANC must be lauded."| ANC NEC member David Mahlobo says GNU criticism by the SACP is unwarranted. He says the ANC’s decision saved the country from the brink of chaos and collapse.
