It boasts an enviable high street with some of the best independent bars, shops and restaurants around
Tucked away in the Irwell Valley, a former mill town brags of its industrial heritage, breath-taking natural environment and an impressive high street filled with some of the region's finest independent bars, shops and restaurants.
Holcombe Hill is a favourite among visitors, offering stunning views and serving as a popular pit-stop for walkers and hikers. The unmissable Peel Tower stands proudly at the top of the hill. Many visitors incorporate the pub into their journey along the Ramsbottom, Summerseat and Holcombe Trail, a 9km walking route that starts at Ramsbottom Station and takes approximately three hours to complete. The trail encompasses the town centre, Grants Wood, Holcombe Village and Brook, and the site of Nuttall Mill, as well as the village and its park.
As you may guessed, there's plenty of other pitstops for a pint too including The Railway close to the ELR; Casked, the sister site to the popular Casked in Rawtenstall with a great selection of beer from local breweries; alongside The Major and Grey Mare too. Recently renovated in 2022, it has ample outdoor seating, games for kids, a tipi tent and serves up stonebaked sourdough pizzas, cooked fresh to order. In the summertime, the pub turns into a little oasis with an outside bar offering cask and draught beers, spritz, and wine menus but most importantly plenty of outdoor space.
