Re: Protest planned to demand school get renamed, March 21
To erase the name of our first prime minister from contemporary consciousness is itself an assault on our history. Macdonald was one of the men responsible for this flawed but still great country, but it will be easy to forget his essential contributions if he is erased by the outrage of today’s social justice activists.
These patients, often over 60 years old, have benefited from their hospital stay but cannot return home because they can’t manage stairs. If there were slab on-grade, two-bedroom houses available near bus stops, they would be purchased by the elderly. My wife and I looked very hard to find such a house in Calgary but found none. Penticton, B.C., and many cities in Europe have such houses.
So unless we want to keep building more government-funded facilities, we need to encourage developers to build houses that people who can no longer climb stairs can buy, so they don’t end up marooned in the health system.
