ICYMI: LETTER: New Bahamian Association of Nova Scotia welcomes members | SaltWire
Rush Culture, from Halifax, performs a Bahamian Junkanoo — a street parade with costumes and music — during the DiverseCity Multicultural Festival in Summerside, P.E.I. in August 2022. FileWe would like to extend an open invitation to all fellow Bahamians and friends of the Bahamas to join us for our monthly meets for the Bahamian Association of Nova Scotia. Our meetings are free events and are held at the Common Good Solutions, 5557 Cunard St., Halifax.
Our vision is to establish and elevate the presence, impact and culture of the Bahamas in Nova Scotia. This vision is rooted in relationship between the Bahamas and Nova Scotia, that is a broad-based, long-term partnership between two communities of two countries. We believe this starts by building a strong network across the local Bahamian community of students, business professionals, entrepreneurs, descendants, and friends of the Bahamas alike.
Our inaugural meeting was held on March 26 and was extremely successful. There were more than 30 people in attendance and another 10 via zoom, including consulate general Al Dilette, and National Association of Bahamians in Canada’s president Jasmine Dorsette. The current board of directors was introduced, along with an organization breakdown, and available board positions.
We invite those interested to come out to support, participate in our discussion, eat some good food and meet our leadership members. Bring your ideas and issues to help us formulate better ways to serve our fellow Bahamians. Registration for the meetings is required as there is limited capacity at the venue with food provided after. Please register through our Instagram page
