Just some of the names and faces from Lancashire and the North West who have found themselves in court this week

This week has seen a university student convicted of stabbing a 12-year-old on a bouncy castle at a party at his gran's house. The Edge Hill student is one of a number of defendants to find themselves in the dock.

Gary Madine behaved in a "ridiculously stupid" manner after officers turned up following reports of an early hours disturbance, a court heard. The 33-year-old weaved in and out of parked cars in the early hours of the morning when police tried to pull him over and he crashed into a Ford Focus. The self confessed 'Wi-Fi Thief' has been handed a two year and five month sentence and told he will serve at least half behind bars. Using his real name, Daniel Martin, the 28-year-old pleaded guilty to burglary, fraud and possession of cannabis at Preston Crown Court on Monday .

It was at this point that another female passenger, who was also travelling alone, saw what was happening and intervened, telling Walker to leave the victim alone and escorting her to another seat where she remained with her. Walker then approached both the women and sat down, with the witness blocking him from getting any closer to the victim, until he eventually moved away and left the service at Edge Hill.
