Officers also slammed “TikTok detectives” as they sought to combat misinformation surrounding the disappearance of the 45-year-old mother who has not been seen in 19 days. Assistant Chief Constable Peter Lawson, who also led the press conference, said he was acutely aware of the interest and speculation around the case.
She said: “I made it clear that it was my working hypothesis at that time – based with all the facts – that the main hypothesis I was working on at that time was that Nicola had gone in the river.
