Lake Travis ISD voters face a $143M bond for a new stadium and athletic upgrades, with officials pledging no tax hike; a vote is set for Nov. 7.
, promises no tax rate increaseLake Travis ISD voters will decide on a $143 million bond package in the upcoming election for a new stadium and upgrades to athletic complexes, marking a cost increase from a similar, failed proposition last year. voters will see an item on their ballot which would go towards building a new stadium and upgrading other athletic complexes for the district.
Norton says the district has the capacity to take on last year's debt and this bond election without increasing the tax rate. Still, not everyone supports the bond. Some of the criticisms center on the cost increase from the failed athletics bond from last year, which was worth nearly 94 million dollars.
Highlights of the 2023 bond include renovations to current facilities at Lake Travis High School, and minor upgrades to each middle school, and a football/soccer stadium to seat 8,000 people at the new high school. Norton also says several organization and sports groups rent their facilities.
