The L2 Server Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation and support of server environments at client sites. This position aligns with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to deliver high-quality server support, exceeding customer expectations while maintaining operational efficiency and technical expertise. A key responsibility is to effectively communicate technical solutions to non-technical staff, ensuring clear understanding and collaboration.
The L2 Server Administrator manages and supports various server environments, meticulously setting up and maintaining security rights and access permissions. They actively contribute to the development and implementation of technical strategies, policies, and procedures for Operational Technology (OT). Regular reporting on progress, issues, and potential risks to management and users is essential, as is the resolution of cross-functional technical challenges. Maximizing system availability and performance through fault-tolerant configurations and proactive monitoring is paramount. Proactively addressing server infrastructure risks, such as single points of failure or outdated equipment, is crucial. Maintaining continuous communication and feedback regarding escalations to customers is vital for building strong relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction. This role also involves adhering to standard operating procedures and SLAs, and assisting with training and skill transfers for technical teams. On a monthly basis, the L2 Server Administrator reports on performance metrics and SLA adherence. They possess an advanced understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems, including installations, configurations, and support. Experience with Anti-Virus solutions (e.g., Trend Micro, Symantec, and McAfee) is essential, as is in-depth knowledge of Active Directory Domains (architecture, support, and maintenance).
