In July, KZN Public Works MEC Martin Meyer announced that goodie bags, new banners and billboards will be a thing of the past.
KZN Public Works MEC Martin Meyer has saved taxpayers R227 000 by slashing the budget for his budget vote speech to just R300.
“It is with this in mind that, for this budget season, PW&I will not print expensive glossy versions of my speech, make banners that can only be used once, or hand out goodie bags. Our spending for the day should reflect the strain our budget is under,” he emphasised. The closure of the leased office will save KZN Treasury an estimated R1 million per annum. The amount will be directed to other strategic service delivery needs of the department in supporting the province.
