The department stated that any bid that did not go through this process would be declared null and void.

DURBAN - The Public Works and Infrastructure Department in KwaZulu-Natal has introduced a new tender procurement system for accountability and transparency.

The department has said that it would now conduct full visual and audio recording for all interviews. The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure indicated that its hiring process had faced allegations of nepotism, corruption, and insider trading. Spokesperson Steve Bhengu said the MEC believed the provincial government of unity was putting an end to it all.

"As the government of provincial unity, we are committed to restoring that trust. From today, all new appointments and tenders will be subjected to strict oversight through recorded interviews and bid processes,” said Bhengu."By implementing these measures, we aim to eradicate claims of unfairness and bias that have historically disrupted projects, while reshaping the image of the KZN Department of Public Works and Infrastructure into one of openness and integrity,” said Bhengu.
