Zimbabwean footballer Khama Billiat, formerly of Kaizer Chiefs, addresses reports about his transfer fee to Scotland FC, stating that the circulated amount is false and putting him at risk.

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat recently joined Scotland FC but has denied being paid a hefty amount to join the club. The 34-year-old was reportedly signed for a fee of around US$45,000 (R850,000) but the star has denied the figure, saying the claims make him a target.Billiat’s salary was always the talking point. The Zimbabwean attacker was amongst the highest-paid players in the PSL for many years.

Having joined Scotland from Yadah FC, the former Kaizer Chiefs star is set to be the highest earner in the Zimbabwean league. “I am not at liberty to divulge the financial terms of my contract with Scottland, but I need to clarify that the US$45,000 figure circulating on social media is baseless. My deal is nowhere near that,” Billiat told. “Ordinarily I would have ignored the reports but it creates problems. It puts my life in danger because people will be made to believe that I have such amounts of money, and they (criminals) can target me.”“There is no doubt that there is a lot of interest in what is happening at Scottland but at the same time it is unprofessional to create hype using false information that then puts me at risk over money that I do not have,” Billiat added. “It is quite disturbing that someone finds it okay to just come up with a ridiculous figure and run with it on social media without reflecting on what it does, especially to me.” Having left Kaizer Chiefs abruptly, Billiat found his form at Yadah but it remains to be seen if he can replicate it at Scotland FC
