Amazon will be giving customers deep discounts all month for its first South African Black Friday.
The ecommerce platform is offering free delivery on items delivered by Amazon and delivery times that extend to 20:00.
After much waiting, South Africans finally welcomed Amazon to the local ecommerce market albeit with a raspberry rather than trumpets.likely because Amazon Prime isn’t available in South Africa but the online storefront will be hosting a Black Friday sale anyway.The online store says that shoppers will find deals from Apple, Sony, Garner, Defy, Mellerware and more throughout the month with discounts topping out at 50 percent off in some cases.
Shoppers can take advantage of free delivery but, free delivery is only available for items shipped by Amazon itself. The ecommerce platform does make it easy to see where an item will ship from so determining which items qualify for free delivery is relatively simple.Amazon says that it has also extended delivery hours to 20:00 in the evening for deliveries in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Customers can also pick up their order at one of 3 000 pickup points around the country.
We’ve been incredibly underwhelmed by Amazon’s local offering since its launch. Pricing is on par with the likes of Takealot for the most part but maybe Black Friday and Cyber Monday change that and we get deep discounts on popular items.
