Kate Middleton could still make a surprise appearance at the King's official birthday festivities. Even as she undergoes preventative cancer treatment, the 42 year old Royal is thought to be weighing up joining the Buckingham Palace balcony spectacle post-Trooping the Colour ceremony if she feels up to it.
Typically, as the colonel-in-chief of the Irish Guards, Kate would honour The Colonel's Review by saluting at the event. This second instalment of the ticketed Trooping the Colour series kicks off today with The Major General's Review at Horse Guards Parade. Instead of horse-riding inspection of the troops, the King will travel in an Ascot Landau carriage alongside Queen Camilla. Palace insiders suggest this modification aligns with the palace's advice: that the Kings working comeback should be "carefully reviewed" across each official encounter, reports the Mirror.
Each year, the Trooping the Colour ceremony is held as an official celebration of the King's birthday, even if Charles's real birthday falls on November 14. It is said that like last year, it'll be the working members of the family attending.
