Cavale passed along Dilfer’s number to UAB athletics director Mark Ingram. Ingram says he initially cringed at the idea of hiring a coach from the high school level, but the more he talked to Dilfer the more it became clear to Ingram that Dilfer was more than capable to do the job.Cavale works with a long list of universities within the NIL marketplace. But UAB is the hometown team, he says.
