Wednesday night was just the capper to a dream campaign for Thompson High and 14-year-old Trent Seaborn, who threw an AHSAA Class 7A-record five touchdowns in the championship. Read about this remarkable journey:
AHSAA Class 7A Football ChampionshipTrent Seaborn stood underneath the stands of Jordan-Hare Stadium, a winter chill rocked through his 5-foot-10, 159-pound frame. His cheeks a cherubic red, Seaborn tried to put his year in context.
While Seaborn’s current college offers are from Maryland, Troy and Northern Colorado, winning a blue map on an SEC field should bring more soon. “I was amazed by . Such a great man. I mean he’s a man of God. ... Ever since then, we’ve kept in touch and after we moved here everything kind of took off,” Seaborn said.
The next drive, Seaborn found Korbyn Williams for completions of 45- and 36-yards down the right sideline. Then, following a bad interception on 3rd-and-20, Seaborn scrambled right and a desperation heave dropped into the arms of a Tigers’ defender, Seaborn answered back with a three-play scoring drive to end the half.
