Gwamanda extended his gratitude to all the first responders and various municipal departments, including the city's emergency service workers

Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda acknowledged the challenges faced by the residents in the aftermath of the explosion.City Power said on Wednesday that it had fully restored power supply to the residents within the Johannesburg CBD who had been left in the dark after the gas explosion last week.

"The areas that have now been reconnected include Bank City, Pritchard, the western part of Loveday, Jeppe, West, Diagonal, Sauer, Harrison, President and Simmons streets and the surrounding area west of Bree Street. Additionally, the De Villiers distributor, located north of Bree Street, and encompassing Wanderers Taxi Rank, is also back online.

City Power said it had also made significant progress in repairing the feeder cables that had been affected by the collapsed road structure along Bree Street, and the entire street was now adequately lit.
