I drive or walk along, running through to-do lists in my mind, mentally mapping out my day, while probably passing by news story ideas or points of interest without a second glance.
I still don’t know if it what I saw was smoke, but I hope if anyone in that house needed help, they got it in time.Two days later, I was driving my daughter to school on an icy morning. We were running behind, as usual, and I was going to be late for work. Despite my mind working through the next quickest and safest way out of the school drop-off nightmare, I managed to notice a woman with a cane gingerly making her way down the sidewalk.
That these two occasions to potentially help someone happened in one week had me thinking about how many other times I might have blithely driven or walked past an opportunity to help someone. In our early courtship, he caused me to notice how often I was letting doors close in front of someone not that far behind me. He has made me a better person, but there is still work to do!
