JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse is confident about winning the war against vandalism and cable theft.READ:Last week a Pimville resident was killed, allegedly by cable thieves during a community march.READ:"This partnership with the SAPS and the Hawks and state security is really going to assist to clamp down on the types of crime we are seeing, particularly the theft and vandalism of critical infrastructure.
"It is a concern. It is plunging the whole community into darkness on an ongoing basis and we believe that this will put a stop to it finally," Phalatse said.
