A message sent to families of Yates students Friday evening read:"Effective immediately, April Williams will serve as interim principal of Yates High School. Due to confidentiality laws we cannot go into additional details regarding this situation. Please know that the district is committed to ensuring each student receives an effective education and we will work to minimize any disruption to the educational environment.
Guillory's departure was confirmed less than a week before students are to be dismissed for winter break. Williams will serve as acting principal for Jack Yates High School while the district begins the process of hiring a new, permanent principal. Williams is a school support officer for the district and she will continue her regular duties while taking on the temporary position as interim principal, said Luis Morales, a spokesman for the district.
