A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Inverclyde. Jack Trainner, 27, was found seriously injured on Brookfield Road, Port Glasgow, at around 9.05pm on Saturday. Emergency crews attended, but Mr Trainner was pronounced dead at the scene. Police Scotland said an extensive investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of the incident and an increased police presence will remain in the area as enquiries continue.

'It's vital we find out exactly what happened to him and I'm appealing to the public for help to do that.' An online portal has been set up to allow members of the public to submit information directly to the inquiry team.
