A video still showing about a half-dozen international students helped rescue a sinking vehicle on Sunday at East Bay sand bar. CONTRIBUTED/ISOBEL ARSENEAUEAST BAY, N.S. — Vikram Dalal was out enjoying an afternoon barbecue late Sunday afternoon with friends at the East Bay sandbar when he noticed a car had rolled into the waterway nearby.
“We noticed there was a baby in the back, and a window was open, so water was filling into the car and making it heavy to push.” “It looked like everyone who was nearby on the beach just jumped in the water immediately and started trying to push the car out,” she said. “When I got there, the car was already in the water. There were about six guys already in the water trying to push the car out. It was their second attempt.”
Isobel Arseneau:"Everyone else who was able to had just jumped in to help out this young woman and kid. It was just like a ‘community’ moment." CONTRIBUTED - CONTRIBUTEDArseneau said police and EHS arrived on the scene soon after she saw the incident. “Officers advised the people to move away from the vehicle to avoid injury, and a bystander with a truck then towed the car out of the water onto the shoreline.”
