Delroy Chin and co-accused Shaun Freeman deny conspiracy to kidnap
A man who put trackers on a victim's car before he was kidnapped claims he didn't know he would be abducted and tortured - telling a jury he thought the plan was just to steal from him. Delroy Chin, 47, accepts he was 'part of a criminal conspiracy', but denies he was part of a kidnap plot.
The man, jurors have heard, was 'arrested' by three men posing as plain-clothes police officers in April 2019. He was taken to a lock-up where he was tortured. He told the court he relocated from Luton to Northampton following the birth of his son because he 'didn't want him growing up in the same situation' he had. Mr Chin denied entering into an agreement to kidnap the man, instead telling jurors: "I believe it involved the theft of drugs and cash from him, I didn't know who he was.
"You find the best place to put them where they become undiscovered, you log the vehicle using a telephone or smartphone and then it's live." He said he had known Micah Walfall for a number of years, and had met some of the group through him at the pub while watching football. Mr Chin said he was first asked about getting involved in the plot to steal from the man in early February 2019, by Walfall and Daniel Lowe.
