‘I spent $6,000 to fly here for five days to mourn the Queen,' says Australian Royal superfan 🗨️ ‘If I don’t do this I will regret it for the rest of my life,’ said Darren Martin, from Victoria, Australia

he has “grown up watching and admiring the Royal Family”, an admiration that stemmed from his grandmother, who was herself a huge fan of the Queen.Mr Martin said the Queen’s passing has reminded him of the time he brought his grandparents to the UK in 2013, during which they visited a number of Royal sites, including Buckingham Palace, the Sandringham Estate and Balmoral.“As soon as I heard the Queen wasn’t well, for me it was like a family member.

“It is a beautiful place and knowing how much the Queen loved that place as well probably just brought back a lot of memories. “It’s hard to describe. To a lot of other people it probably seems really silly, but I just feel such a connection.”
