From LinkedIn to TikTok, people are embracing vulnerability on social media more than ever during these crazy times.

you’ve seen going around on people’s Stories. In any normal scenario, many of us probably would have rolled our eyes at these things and kept swiping—but we aren’t. We’re participating. We’re drawing carrots, we’re playing bingo, we’re evenAnd my personal favorite example: TikTok. A few months ago, many parents would have scoffed at the idea of ever learning a “TikTok dance” with their teenagers.

Granted, I was TikTok-ing even pre-quarantine. But yes, I will be doing more of these, even when we’re well past being confined to our homes. I remember the days when we used to worry about excessive screen time. When we feared the idea of interacting with the world exclusively through our phones and computers. But these days, connecting with each other through these devices is all we’ve got—and frankly, the digital world seems a lot less scary than the real one.

Quarantine may seem like it’s inhibiting us. We can’t act as we normally would or do most things we’d normally do. In a strange way, though, being forced to stayof our comfort zones. And if you ask me, maybe those silly drawings of carrots and choreographed TikTok dances are exactly what we all needed.
