How I Manage My Money
This week we speak to Ian Lyster, 86, who lives in Ormskirk, Lancashire. Ian has two daughters with his late wife Gillian, and a son from his first marriage. He also has two grandchildren. Living on £18,780 a year, Ian enjoys life to the full and thinks reports often exaggerate how much money is needed to live a comfortable retirement.
In 1956 I started working as a trainee at a book printing company, earning £7 a week. This was the start of a lifelong career in the printing industry. Working in the sector in the 1970s, I was earning £6,000 a year and had a company car.
