At Africa Tech Festival 2024, we sat down with MTN SA's Calvin Govender to find out what role Huawei is playing in its digital solutions.

, hosted in Cape Town South Africa, serves as the meeting place for the continent’s top minds in the telecommunications industry.

Having recently achieved the status of being the best network service operator in Africa, Govender was buoyant over the steps MTN SA has taken to reach that point. Govender also pointed out how MTN SA has prioritised continued innovation when it comes to the capabilities of its network services. This is an aspect which has particularly helped the carrier distinguish itself from others out there.

“This has to be mentioned that we use the latest network innovation, SRv6 technology, provided by Huawei. This technology divides the fixed network bandwidth into different slices, and each slice does not affect each other. In addition, different network requirements, such as delay, packet loss rate, and bandwidth, can be set for different slices. This technology has been used in some scenarios,” shared Govender.
