In response to a Stomp query, the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council said they regularly remove derelict and abandoned bicycles from void deck bicycle racks. "During the last such removal exercise, we noted that some items were mounted on bicycles or placed next to them," the town council's spokesperson said.
"Before removing these items, considering the possibility that some of these items may constitute part of the owners’ livelihood, we took the step of first identifying and engaging the owners, and giving them a grace period to find an alternative space to store their items."
