The N3 Toll Concession warns of heavy traffic volumes, particularly on Sunday, as motorists head back to Gauteng after the holiday break.
Motorists travelling on the N3 can expect heavy traffic conditions over the next few days, particularly on Sunday, as many travellers return to Gauteng after the holiday break. According to the N3 Toll Concession (N3TC), traffic volumes have been high over the past few days, with over 1,800 vehicles per hour recorded in the northbound direction from KZN towards Gauteng on Friday. Similarly, over 1,200 vehicles per hour were recorded in the southbound direction towards KZN .
Thania Dhoogra, chief operating officer of N3TC, warned that traffic conditions are expected to worsen on Sunday, with congestion and delays likely along the route. To manage the flow of traffic, she said law enforcement officials may implement traffic control interventions at strategic locations. Motorists are advised to remain patient and alert while driving, adhere to the rules of the road, and follow instructions from law enforcement officials. Drivers are also advised to be prepared for changing weather conditions, with a yellow level 4 warning issued for disruptive rainfall leading to flooding and damage to infrastructure over parts of the province from Sunday afternoon until Monday
