Leo Hall was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in August and his parents now want to make his life as special as possible
A mother whose son is suffering from an incurable disease has set up a fundraiser to give the boy as many happy moments as possible before he loses the use of his limbs. Amy Nettleship, 24, spoke about the heartbreaking moment she and her fiancé, Ricky, 27, discovered their son, Leo, had Duchenne muscular dystrophy .
"There was no heartbeat so we had a little funeral and we just said we’d never want to bury a child. We shouldn’t have to do that. We should go before them." "Every single symptom for this disease was everything our little boy does and has. I remember thinking to myself 'no, it can't be this' because he's always been such a healthy little boy and I had a healthy pregnancy."
DMD usually affects boys in early childhood and about 100 boys in the UK are born with the disease each year. The symptoms include difficulties running, jumping, and climbing stairs, difficulty getting up from the floor, and learning and behavioural difficulties.
