Grand Canyon National Park posted a photo allegedly of social media star Katie Sigmond hitting a golf ball into the canyon and then tossing her club.The Grand Canyon said on Oct. 26 the video was shared by someone on TikTok and users confirmed the social media star’s identity. Grand Canyon Law Enforcement found Sigmond the next day.
“Charges and a court appearance for the individual are pending,” said the park’s Facebook posting. “Throwing objects over the rim of the canyon is not only illegal but can also endanger hikers and wildlife who may be below.” A park spokesperson told The Washington Post that Sigmond could be charged for hitting an object over the canyon, causing a dangerous situation and littering, and could face up to six months in jail and $1,000 in fines.
