Alberta Municipal Affairs officials presented the inspection report in a closed-door meeting Wednesday with council members from the 22,000-person city just east of Calgary. The report was compiled by a provincially-appointed third party, municipal adviser George Cuff, who spent several months interviewing residents, current and former city staff and elected officials to test multiple allegations of improprieties within the city’s government.

The province began looking into Chestermere’s governance after three councillors — Sandy Johal-Watt, Shannon Dean and Ritesh Narayan — sent complaints to the province early this year about the actions of Mayor Jeff Colvin, Deputy Mayor Mel Foat, and councillors Stephen Hanley and Blaine Funk.Article content
