A 28-year-old prisoner, who was awaiting trial, escaped from police custody on Tuesday. Tshepo Stephen Botabota was arrested rape, murder and burglary allegedly committed in Mankweng between 2019 and 2021.

Tshepo Stephen Botabota was arrested rape, murder and burglary allegedly committed in Mankweng between 2019 and 2021. According to police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Botabota was being transported to Polokwane prison when he escaped from a police van."The suspect was wearing a blue T-shirt and black shorts at the time of his escape," Mojapelo said.Botabota faces a charge of escaping from lawful custody.Mojapelo added a team of detectives had been appointed to trace the suspect and also to investigate the circumstances surrounding the escape.
