The 2-year-old was taken safely from a home in Hall Manor where a 28-year-old man was shot and hospitalized, according to the city spokesman.

A 2-year-old was safely rescued from the scene of an hours-long hostage situation at Hall Manor in Harrisburg that ended with a 28-year-old male suspect being shot Tuesday evening.

The suspect was taken to the hospital around 7:45 p.m. His condition is not known other than he was taken from the scene alive but not alert, according to city spokesman Matt Maisel. The child was taken out of the home along 5 Row Hall Manor just after 6 p.m. by members of the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team. Blood was visible on the child’s face, but Maisel said the child was unharmed.

Maisel said the 28-year-old entered the home between 1 and 1:30 p.m. However, a woman who lives there did not know him. She ran out of the house with one child. Neither she nor the child was harmed.Police and the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team tried to negotiate with the individual, and released three flash bangs into the Hall Manor home around 5 p.m.The 28-year-old was shot while removing the child from the home, Maisel said.
