Favourite I Am Maximus was victorious for Paul Townend and Willie Mullins in a thrilling Randox Grand National at Aintree.
I Am Maximus claimed the 2024 Grand National for Paul Townend and Willie Mullins in the famous JP McManus colours, giving the dominant Irish trainer a second win in the race, having last won back in 2005 with Hedgehunter. Minella Indo looked set to repeat Rachael Blackmore's 2021 win in the latter stages of the race but the favourite just found more to land this year's renewal, with Delta Work staying on to finish second.
The horse was no help a lot of the way round but always had that bit in the tank - he bided his time and delivered. 'I'm buzzing here now, it's huge.
