Despite Arch Gover's submission that he 'customizes axes as therapy,' provincial court Judge Harold Porter banned him from possessing certain bladed tools

“ may be summarized as a long list describing how the accused planned to murder his ex’s spouse, then boyfriend, hide his corpse in the woods, and kill his family,” Porter wrote in his Jan. 19 sentencing decision. Porter rejected Gover’s evidence when it came to the assaults, saying he didn’t believe the accused, nor was he left in reasonable doubt by his version of events.
The judge rejected Gover’s assertion that he had acted in self-defence, and rejected his argument that the threats were “just talk.”“When men breach non-contact conditions, they are communicating to their former spouses that victims are powerless and that the court is meaningless,” the judge wrote. “This is why a breach of a non-contact bail condition is so much more serious than a breach for being out after curfew.
