Alaska State Troopers have announced in a community alert that the Parks Highway and Glenn Highway are closed from Trunk Road to the Palmer Alternate.

Alaska State Troopers Public Information Officer Tim DeSpain said that the blowing snow has made visibility incredibly poor and numerous vehicles are in the ditch. DeSpain said that pilot cars would not be Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, but trooper vehicles. “We are working on clearing the vehicles from the roadway and also working with DOT on using pilot cars to get through traffic until it is safe to reopen,” DeSpain said.Editor’s note: This story has been updated to include additional information.
