A youth group in Glasgow that recently lost ‘100%’ of its funding has warned disaffected kids will suffer as a result of government cuts
.
The centre had applied for the Empowering Communities Programme but staff were left perplexed when they were told the facility would receive “nothing”. “We support hundreds of people directly and indirectly in the area and the loss will be significant to them. What we provide is the core to the wellbeing of young people.”
A Scottish Government spokesperson said: “We recognise there will be organisations which benefited from the Investing in Communities Fund previously which have not been successful in the second round of the fund. All applicants to the first round of the fund were asked to demonstrate how they would sustain the delivery of the project beyond the period of the ICF funding.
