TJ Scott, a 26-year-old Computer-Aided Mechanical Engineering masters student, is set to work for Mercedes F1's engine department after his talent was spotted at Silverstone.
A Glasgow student was left gobsmacked after he was picked by Mercedes F1 to join their engine department.
"The car is put through scrutineering where actual FIA scrutineers, who look over the likes of Lewis Hamilton's car to make sure it's safe, look at our cars. The car is then put through three dynamic events an acceleration one, autocross, skidpad and an endurance event where the car runs for 50 minutes.
"About halfway through I thought the guy was going in on me about so I must've made a mistake. After the judging he called me over for a chat and gave me his business card. "I was handed a broken F1 engine and asked why I thought it broke. A month later they got in touch and said they were happy to bring me on board. I went down thinking at the very least it'd be cool to see.
