Sure, there may be a few perks that come with the job , but there is zero job security and MLAs are hardly in it for the money. Many observers have praised Houston for putting the brakes on the increase. Personally, I think his action was short-sighted and demeaning. A true statesman would make the case as to why our MLAs are deserving of a fair wage and a long-overdue increase as recommended by an independent panel.Here’s another reality check: MLAs in Nova Scotia are among the lowest paid in the country and reside in the highest-taxed province.
