The sale of the Ottawa Senators could be about to enter its final, pivotal stages.

It’s believed Andlauer was in the Bell Centre Tuesday night for the club’s dramatic 5-4 victory over the Montreal Canadiens. Andlauer has minority stake in the group that owns the Habs and is an alternate governor for the club. He’ll get the backing of Montreal governor Geoff Molson. A source told this newspaper Vancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds will be right in the thick of the purchase of this team.
One way or another the expectation is Reynolds will play a key role in the purchase of the Senators. That’s because NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and deputy Bill Daly want him involved because of the actor’s ability to help grow the game. The website for prospective buyers also includes information on the club’s memorandum of understanding for a new arena at LeBreton Flats. The NHL has said to anybody interested they’d like to see a lease agreement completed with the National Capital Commission.
