Anton Forsberg will be busy before the Ottawa Senators take a lengthy break next week.

The injury to Talbot will keep the 35-year-old on the shelf until after the club’s 11-day break in the schedule begins following Tuesday’s visit to the Bell Centre to face the Montreal Canadiens.

The club will hold off on trying to get another goalie for Ottawa right now. But depending on how long Talbot is on the shelf, that possibility exists. The hope now is he won’t be out long and when the Senators face the Oilers on Feb. 11 at home, Talbot will be ready to go. The club could check with Detroit GM Steve Yzerman to see if he’d send Magnus Hellberg back to the Senators. But by all accounts, the Wings like him and want to keep him around.

He’s on an AHL contract with the organization and will start both games against Springfield. In three appearances this season, Flodell, 24, has an 8.76 goals-against average with a .705 save-percentage. “I thought we played well. We fought hard the whole game and we played as a team. We stayed with it the whole game. That’s the biggest part and that’s what we have to do going forward to get some wins.”

The club is 11 points out of the final wildcard spot in the East and a winning streak heading into the break would allow the Senators to feel good about themselves.
