Austin Watson will do whatever it takes to come to the aid of a teammate on the ice, but off the ice and way from the rink he\u0027s also doing his part to give an assist to those who need help.
The struggle has been difficult for Watson and the journey hasn’t always been easy, but that’s why he’s willing to share his story.
“A lot of times in situations where you’re struggling, you just want to be heard and you want to feel like it’s OK that you’re not the only going through it. Often times that can give you a little bit of strength to keep going, working at it and trying to feel better.”Article content Watson is going through this with his fiancée, Jenn Guardino, who will also celebrate four years sober Saturday. The couple have two children and they have each other to help get through the tough days.
“We’re raising two beautiful girls and, at the same time, dealing with something that, if we don’t take care of that we’re not going to be there for each other, our family and our kids. It’s nice to have that strength within the household to help.”
