Premier Andrew Furey is on the southwest coast, calling the devastation caused by Hurricane Fiona “unbelievable”.
Furey, who in his previous life as a surgeon has traveled around the world as part of Team Broken Earth, says the damage he’s seen equals that in other disaster areas he’s seen. Furey admits that the rebuild will take time and he suggested where people rebuild may be different, similar to homes in areas of Badger prone to flooding, which were moved.
He says the rebuild may not look like areas where people first settled because of historic and economic reasons.
