If your payment lands on a certain date, you could be paid earlier
With this, those claiming benefits from the Department of Work and Pensions, can expect the payment date to change if they usually receive it on the 25th of each month.
As Christmas lands on a Sunday this year, the bank holiday lands on December 27 and claimants can expect to be paid earlier than normal.Anyone who is due a payment on 24, 25, 26 or 27 of the month should be paid on Friday 23 December instead. But if your payment is usually issued on any other date, you can expect that the to remain the same as usual.
According to DWP, if your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday you’ll usually be paid on the working day before. This may be different for Tax Credits and Child Benefit. While DWP has yet to confirm changes to payment dates over Christmas and New Year for State Pension and benefits including Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment or Attendance Allowance, they have updated the payment dates for Tax Credit and Child Benefit.
