Former Alabama Congressman Terry Everett has passed away.
Michelle Mann REHOBETH — Former Alabama Congressman Terry Everett died at home Tuesday morning and Gov. Kay Ivey has directed that the flags at the Alabama Capitol Complex and flags in the district he served be lowered to half-staff immediately and remain at half-staff until the day he is buried. He was 87.
“During his time on Capitol Hill, he was one of the strongest voices for Alabama’s military bases, active-duty personnel, and veterans,” Ivey added. “He was also a stalwart advocate for Alabama farmers and small businesses.” “Congressman Everett was a wonderful public servant who made a tremendous impact on the Wiregrass, the State of Alabama, and our nation,” Hawkins said. “He didn’t need the office—the office needed him.
"Terry Everett founded, owned, and sold a number of newspapers during a career that began as a police reporter at The Dothan Eagle. He was a strong leader and provided steady guidance during a difficult time at APA," Mason added."Our prayers go out to Barbara to all that knew and loved Terry."
