A flesh-eating “zombie drug” called xylazine has been circulating the streets of Los Angeles. 'Tranq' can have severe and even deadly effects when mixed with illicit opioids.

The department urges residents who are using illicit opioids to carry naloxone, which can reverse an opioid overdose, and use test strips to test for the presence of fentanyl.Hal is joined by Dr. Matt Waxman, UCLA Emergency medicine physician and professor, to talk about the emerging deadly drug Tranq and how it is affecting patients they see in the ER.'s Crime Lab initiated a three-month pilot program to track xylazine detected in controlled substances submitted to the lab.
