Officials warning of sub-freezing temperatures in Salt Lake, Utah Counties and areas north. Temperatures will drop below freezing in areas of north-central and northern Utah for the first time this season Thursday night into Friday morning.
The Tooele and Rush Valleys, Eastern Box Elder County, Northern Wasatch Front, along with the Salt Lake and Utah Valleys will be under a Freeze Warning beginning at midnight Friday through 9 a.m. Friday. This warning includes the cities of Tooele, Grantsville, Vernon, Brigham City, Snowville, Ogden, Bountiful, Salt Lake City, West Jordan, Sandy, Lehi, Provo and Payson.Officials of the National Weather Service reported that temperatures in these areas could drop bellow 23 degrees through the forecasted period.
Authorities warned that frost and sub-freezing temperatures could wipe out crops and other sensitive vegetation and may damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. NWS officials advise property owners to wrap, drain and allow drippage for outdoor water pipes in order to prevent them from freezing and bursting. In-ground sprinkling systems should be drained.------------------------
