It’s time to wrap your faucets and take your tender plants inside, as the first freeze of the season could happen this week.

As a system bringing mountain snow and lowland rain passes through, cold air will continue to push into the region. Thursday morning’s low temperatures are likely to be in the upper 30s in Seattle with other locations getting some frost, too.

According to the National Weather Service, a freeze watch is in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday for the coastal lowlands of Whatcom, Skagit, Island, Clallam and Jefferson counties. In other parts of Western Washington, highs will only be in the 40s from Thursday through Sunday with morning lows progressively getting colder under mainly clear skies.

More locations will have their first freezes of the fall on Friday, and then again on Saturday morning. The coldest start is likely to be Sunday morning with even the urban areas like Seattle very close to freezing. Some fog and freezing fog will be possible in spots as well each morning. While it will be quite cold, we’ll likely stay several degrees above the daily record lows during the period.Off-duty pilot accused of attempting to shut off engine also attempted to open emergency exit
